ABOUT WN7 FEST
A community-run family music festival, born and raised in the heart of Leigh — WN7.
Born In The Heart Of Leigh
Every town has a postcode. Ours happens to be a name worth shouting about. WN7is the postcode that wraps around the streets, terraces and parks of Leigh, and when we set out to build a festival for the people who actually live here, there was only ever going to be one thing to call it. WN7 FEST isn't a brand someone dreamed up in a boardroom and dropped onto a field. It grew out of this town — out of its pubs, its choirs, its clubs and its long memory of putting on a good day out.
What started as a hopeful idea — a proper festival, on home turf, that local families could actually afford — has become an established fixture in the calendar. The 2026 weekender at Leigh Miners Welfare sold out, with thousands of people streaming through the gates over two days. We watched grandparents singing along to songs they danced to forty years ago while their grandchildren wobbled off the fairground rides next to them. That, more than any ticket figure, is why we do it. And it's why we're coming back again.
We're not the new kids anymore. WN7 FEST returns for another year in 2027, and each time it comes around it gets a little bigger, a little sharper, and a little more "us". We've learned what works: keep it warm, keep it affordable, keep it rooted in the community that made it. The neon, the tribute acts, the smell of street food drifting across the field — it all sits on top of something simpler. A town that loves a knees-up and finally has a weekend built entirely around it.
Ask anyone who came along and they'll tell you the same thing: it didn't feel like a corporate event you'd been sold a ticket to, it felt like a town party that happened to have a brilliant main stage. People bumped into neighbours they hadn't seen in years. Kids who'd never been to live music before stood wide-eyed in front of the speakers. Friends made plans to come back before they'd even left the field. Those small, human moments are the real reason WN7 FEST has stuck around — and the reason its reputation has spread far beyond the Leigh postcode it's named after.

A Family Festival, Not Just A Gig
There are plenty of festivals you wouldn't dream of taking the kids to. WN7 FEST is the opposite. From the very first sketch on the back of a beermat, the goal was a genuine family festival in Leigh— somewhere a nan, a toddler, a teenager and a stag-do could all have the time of their lives in the same field without anyone feeling out of place. That balance is harder than it sounds, and getting it right is the thing we're proudest of.
The way we've cracked it is with two genuinely distinct days. They share the same site, the same friendly stewards and the same brilliant street food village, but each one has its own character.
Day One — Country Music Day
Friday 11 June 2027kicks the weekend off with our Country Music Day. Think line dancing across the floor, the best country tribute acts we can find, boots, hats and a warm, sociable, grown-up atmosphere as the evening rolls in. It's a slower, looser, sing-along sort of night — the perfect way to ease into the weekender with a drink in hand and good company all around you.
Day Two — Family Festival
Saturday 12 June 2027is the big family day, and it's where the festival truly comes alive for all ages. There's a dedicated Kids Zone, a proper funfair with fairground rides, live entertainment across the day and that buzzing all-day atmosphere that turns a music event into a full day out. Bring the buggy, bring the grandparents, bring the lot — there's something for everyone from breakfast until the lights come down.
What we love about the family day is how the generations mix. Parents get to relive the soundtrack of their youth while their little ones lose themselves on the rides; teenagers drift between the food stalls and the stage; grandparents grab a deckchair, a cuppa and a front-row view of the whole happy chaos. Nobody has to compromise on a great day out, and nobody gets left minding the bags. By the time the evening acts take over and the site lights up, you've had a complete day — not just a couple of hours squeezed in around a band.
Can't choose? You don't have to. A Weekend Pass gets you both days, and it's the way most regulars do it. Whichever you pick, you'll find a friendly family festival in Greater Manchester that genuinely puts families first.

The full 2027 line-up is being announced soon. In 2026 our stages hosted crowd-pleasing tributes to Queen, Oasis, ABBA, Robbie, Michael Jackson and Ed Sheeran — keep an eye on the line-up page for who's joining us next.
A Home With History
You can't separate WN7 FEST from the ground it stands on. Leigh Miners Welfareon Kirby Road, just off Twist Lane, has been a gathering place for this community for generations. Welfare grounds like this were built by and for working people — somewhere to play, to meet, to celebrate — and that spirit is still woven into every corner of the place. When you stand on that field, you're standing in a piece of Leigh's history.
It's the perfect fit for a community festival. The site is generous enough to hold main-stage crowds, a funfair, a Kids Zone and a street food village all at once, yet it never loses that local, welcoming feel. It's a real venue with real roots, not a faceless car park rented for the weekend — and that makes all the difference to the atmosphere.
There's something quietly special about throwing a modern festival on ground that's been hosting the town's celebrations for the better part of a century. The miners who built places like this would probably never have imagined neon lights and tribute bands — but they'd recognise the spirit of it instantly. A community coming together, having a brilliant time, on land that belongs to all of them. We don't take that history lightly, and we work hard to leave the site as we found it, ready for the next gathering.

Run By People Who Love Leigh
There's no national promoter behind WN7 FEST and no anonymous events company pulling the strings. It's put on by local people— folk who grew up here, who shop here, whose kids go to school here, and who genuinely love this town. We're the ones up at dawn checking the weather, the ones taping down cables in the rain, and the ones standing at the back of the crowd at the end of the night, grinning, because it all came together again.
Being grassroots shapes every decision we make. It's why early bird tickets start from just £3for under-14s and stay genuinely affordable for adults — because a festival that prices out its own community has missed the entire point. It's why we work with local traders for the street food village, lean on local volunteers, and listen hard when people tell us what they'd love to see next year.
What We Believe In
- Affordable for everyone — a day out the whole family can actually say yes to
- Welcoming & safe — trained stewards, accessible facilities and a friendly crowd
- Proudly local — built in Leigh, run by Leigh, for Leigh and beyond
- Always improving — we read every message and get a little better each year
We're also keenly aware that an event like this is fully wheelchair accessible for a reason — everyone in this community deserves a place in the crowd. There's a VIP option for those who fancy a treat, with its own bar and toilets, but the heart of the festival has always been the main field, where a tenner and a bit of change buys you a day you'll be talking about until the next one comes around.
So whether you're a die-hard who was there for the very first one, or you've just stumbled across us looking for a family festival near Wigan and Manchester, consider this your invitation. WN7 FEST is your festival as much as it's ours. Come and be part of the next chapter — we'll save you a spot near the front.
